You might be tempted to confuse Imagine Dragons with AWOLNATION, but not after you see the former’s video for Radioactive. Cute teddy bears and stuffed animals fight a nasty, horned puppet in a ring lined with cash-clenching gamblers.  Lou Diamond Phillips oversees the money and fluffy madness while singer Dan Reynolds and his forlorn Dragons languish in a basement dungeon.

“It was so much fun to film it,” says bassist Ben McKee. “We actually filmed it in New York during Hurricane Sandy. The puppet fight scenes in a barn were happening in upstate New York, and we had to be evacuated halfway during the shooting, so we couldn’t shoot our dungeon scenes. We had to shoot the rest on tour, so the scenes of us in a dungeon are actually of us in a medieval dungeon in London.”

McKee says Imagine Dragons just shot a video for their next single, Demons. Might Lou make an appearance? “You’ll just have to wait and see,” chuckles the bassist.

Imagine Dragons perform Monday, March 11 at The Starlite Room. Tickets are sold out, but there are still some available for their Thursday, May 23 gig at the Shaw Conference Centre.  Through Ticketmaster.
