Edmonton is about to welcome another music festival — if only for this year.
Organizers of the Tail Creek Mud & Music Festival don’t have enough time to finish improvements to its outdoor site near Red Deer, so the event is moving to the Shaw Conference Centre, according to the event’s organizers.
The three-day festival, which kicks off Thursday, June 25, will feature Limp Bizkit’s first appearance in Edmonton, plus punk veterans Billy Talent and Bad Religion.
Festival pass holders who want refunds are asked to visit tailcreek.ca/refund/ before 6 p.m. on June 8.
Otherwise, existing passes will be honoured at the Shaw Conference Centre.
Country rocker Brantley Gilbert will headline the first night. The next two nights will feature two stages — one for metal/rock and punk acts, the other for electronic dance music. Fans can buy single-day or weekend passes for both stages or only the “Fusion EDM” stage, via tailcreek.ca.
Rockers Limp Bizkit, Sublime with Rome, P.O.D, and dance acts Pretty Lights and Tommy Trash are some of the acts scheduled for June 26. Billy Talent, Bad Religion, and Toronto electronic music duo Zeds Dead will play June 27.
Festival organizers hope to return to Tail Creek’s original site in the village of Alix, 40 minutes east of Red Deer.
The first edition of the festival, launched last year, was marred by extreme weather that forced the cancellation of the final day.
Organizers were restructuring the grounds, but “due to logistical difficulties and time constraints it has become apparent that the site construction will not be complete prior to our 2015 festival dates,” reads a news release.
